The Perfect Ride For…
The technophile. Not only is the 2022 XC60 a stunning machine inside and out, but it’s also something of a technological juggernaut. Drivers will benefit from the expansive 12-inch digital gauge display, plus there’s a heads-up display for those moments when you can’t take your eyes off the road. The available Digital Services package adds wireless fast charging for compatible smartphones plus access to built-in Google services. Available 4-zone climate control lets four out of the XC60’s five passengers take control of their own comfort via individual climate settings. Buyers can also choose between the available 14-speaker Harman Kardon premium sound system and a high-end audio system from Bowers & Wilkins.
Drive and Handling
The 2022 XC60’s powertrain options start with the base B5, a turbocharged 2.0-liter inline 4-cylinder engine paired with a 48-volt mild-hybrid system and an 8-speed automatic transmission. The end result is an ample 247 horsepower and 258 pound-feet of torque. The upgraded B6 powertrain adds a supercharger for an extra boost, making for a total of 295 horsepower and 310 pound-feet of torque. All-wheel drive comes as an option for the B5 and standard for the B6. The mild-hybrid system features an integrated starter generator for seamless auto stop-start and a boost in fuel efficiency. The base B5 is EPA-rated at 26 mpg combined (23 mpg city/30 mpg highway), while the B6 boasts an EPA-estimated rating of 24 mpg combined (21 mpg city/27 mpg highway).
An active chassis with self-adapting air suspension gives the XC60 its handling prowess while also giving it adaptable load-leveling capability. The XC60 also sports a bevy of driver assistance systems, including the BLIS blind spot information system, cross traffic alert with autobrake, and Oncoming Lane Mitigation, which helps prevent drivers from crossing the center line into the path of oncoming traffic. Other available features include adaptive cruise control and Pilot Assist with Driver Assistance, designed to keep drivers centered in their lane via minor steering adjustments.
Key Features
Google Built In
The 2022 Volvo XC60 retains the 9-inch touch screen display of previous years, but it drops the previous year’s Sensus interface in favor of Google Built In technology. Based on the popular Android system, the new interface fully integrates Google Maps and Google Assistant, among other popular Google apps, for a smarter and more intuitive user experience. Users can also access their favorite apps via Google Play and enjoy hands-free control.
Cabin Air Cleaner
The 2022 Volvo XC60 comes equipped with an innovative air quality system aimed at reducing unwanted pollution and improving occupant health. This system removes up to 95 percent of fine particulate matter 2.5 micrometers or smaller from the cabin air. The end result is a cleaner, healthier cabin all passengers can enjoy.
