What's New for 2024?

The 2024 Volvo XC60 is part of the second XC60 generation, first introduced in 2018. It enters 2024 offering all-wheel drive only. In addition to discontinuing a front-wheel drive option, Volvo also discontinued its supercharged engine option for the latest year. Buyers will also find an air purifier and upgraded windows come standard on some trims.

Real World Performance

The 2024 Volvo XC60 is offered in seven trims: Core, Plus, Ultimate, Recharge Core, Recharge Plus, Recharge Ultimate and Recharge Polestar Engineered. Buyers will find two powertrain options, the B5 and the plug-in hybrid T8. Both are partnered with an eight-speed automatic transmission. The base model B5 version is a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine with a 48-volt hybrid system, delivering 247 horsepower. Alternatively, the hybrid T8 powertrain comes paired with a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder beefed up by a set of electric motors that provide a total of 455 horsepower for the XC60's Recharge models. Drivers will find the XC60 handles corners and is sure-footed when cruising, while confidently toeing the line when changing direction.

Buyers choosing either the Recharge or Polestar trims will find the T8 plug-in hybrid powertrain comes standard, with an estimated 32-mile electric-only driving range. The XC60 offers the convenience of public or at-home charging via a 110- or 220-volt outlet, but Volvo also provides the option to charge the batter with energy generated from its gas-powered engine, if needed.
