As a leader in innovation, technology, and performance, we expect big things from Volvo in 2019. From ground-breaking new models to game-changing innovations, Volvo is already poised to outdo itself this year. Here are a few of the biggest headlines coming in 2019.
Updated Mid-Size Range
2019 V60
The newest addition to the world’s finest luxury lineup, the new V60 (pictured top and below) offers a unique option in a world of SUVs and sedans. The V60 offers the best of Scandinavian craftsmanship and modern technology, representing the best of what the brand has to offer.
This versatile wagon features an advanced chassis and multiple engine options that will please both city drivers and mountain climbers. The new V60 is built on the Scalable Product Architecture (SPA), Volvo’s advanced modular product platform that underpins all Volvo models in the 90 and 60 Series. For the 2019 model year, the V60 will come available in four trim levels: Momentum, Inscription, R-Design, and the Cross Country.
The V60 Cross Country will be particularly capable, featuring a turbocharged powertrain and all-wheel drive as a standard. Other standard features will be Hill Descent Control, which offers more confidence on steep slopes with autonomous braking, as well as Electronic Stability Control, Corner Traction Control, and a special Off-Road driving mode.
On the inside, the V60 will offer a spacious cabin with the peak of innovation throughout the menu of features. Not only will it include a cutting-edge infotainment system, but it will also offer a luxuriously-appointed interior décor and an expansive panoramic sunroof. Thanks to a combination of power and refinement, the V60 will be at home in the city and the forest.
2019 X60
Volvo also updated its SUV segment with the mid-size X60 (pictured below). This 5-door, 5-seat SUV is also built on the Scalable Product Architecture like the V60 above, which means it’s lighter, safer, and more rigid than ever before. In its second generation, the X60 offers rugged all-terrain capability with plenty of comfort and technology for passengers.
The 2019 X60 uses Volvo’s Drive-E powertrains, including gasoline, diesel, and the automaker’s T8 plug-in hybrid, which offers up to 400 combined horsepower and 59 MPGe.* This SUV is also available with all-wheel drive and multiple drive modes to ensure confidence no matter what’s under the wheels.
As an SUV, the X60 offers plenty of interior space for five passengers, but it also offers tons of cargo space for gear. The flat floor makes loading and unloading a snap, and the folding rear seats further increase the cavernous cargo space to offer as much as 63.3 cubic feet of storage.
2019 S60
Last, but in no way least, the S60 (video below) sedan gets a makeover for 2019, too. Also built on the brand’s new Scalable Product Architecture, this 4-door sedan is all about performance and comfort. With efficient powertrain options and a sleek, clean interior, the S60 sets a new standard in the world of luxury sedans.
The S60 is the epitome of Volvo’s commitment to modern efficiency. A standard inline-four turbo powertrain offers 250 horses and a top speed of 149 mph, and two available plug-in hybrid powertrains offer as much as 400 combined horsepower with an all-electric driving range of 25 miles.
All of these options—the V60, X60, and S60—include the most updated interior comfort and tech features. For controls, drivers will enjoy the ease of operating the vivid 9-inch Sensus Touchscreen and the multiple connectivity options like Apple Carplay™ and Android Auto™. For an immaculate sound experience, Volvo offers the latest-generation in premium sound systems from either Bowers & Wilkins or harmon/kardon®. For modern safety, drivers will rest assured that cutting-edge safety features are watching their backs, like the City Safe feature that uses external sensors and cameras to spot potential dangers and alert the driver or the Run-Off Road Mitigation features that can sense the car leaving the road and autonomously respond with steering and braking to get itself back on track.
…And This is Just the Beginning
Volvo is kicking off the new year with a bang, and this is just the beginning.
